President and CEO, Genesis
Michelle joined Genesis in 2002 as a Business Analyst and was promoted to Vice President in 2015. She assumed the role of President and CEO in August of 2016. With more than 17 years of experience advising technology companies, Michelle is passionate about entrepreneurs and advancing the technology sector of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Michelle’s passion for technology has led to her involvement with several national organizations. She is a member of the board of directors for Oceans Advance and for two years was the Newfoundland Chapter Lead of Ladies Learning Code, a national non-profit established to teach technical skills to women. She has served on the board of directors for the Canadian Digital Media Network, the Canadian Association of Business Incubation, and is the St. John’s hub lead for Genesis’ Women in Technology Peer Group and CEO Peer Group.
Michelle participates in many Memorial University advisory groups as well. She is a member of the Memorial Centre for Entrepreneurship Advisory Board, the Memorial University Innovation Steering Committee, the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences Industry Advisory Council and the Cold Ocean and Arctic Science, Technology and Society (COASTS) Advisory Board.
Michelle holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Memorial University. She has completed the Queen’s Executive Leadership program and holds a certificate in Business Incubator Management from the International Business Innovation Association (InBIA). Michelle completed the Directors Education Program through the Institute of Corporate Directors and Saint Mary’s University, obtaining her ICD.D designation.
