Vice President of Global Innovations and New Ventures, Blue Shield of California
Russell Rogers is Vice President of Global Innovations and New Ventures at Blue Shield of California. Russell manages Blue Shield’s Innovation portfolio, as well as partner with leaders across the enterprise to explore external investments and partnerships and help execute on internal innovation efforts. Russell has a wealth of innovation experience. He has designed, built and led innovation teams at several organizations, most recently at DowDuPont Inc., where he was a global innovation leader and head of their Silicon Valley Innovation Center.
Russell brings healthcare innovation experience from consulting work with Samsung and Humana, as well as a background as an Army Medic in Special Operations units and a graduate of Harvard University’s Master in Public Health program. He has also provided strategic consulting to Fortune 500 companies, startups and the United States military. Russell has started and spun a company out of the MIT Media Lab with his cofounders that developed the technology at MIT.
He is an MBA graduate of the Sloan Fellows Program in Innovation and Global Leadership from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has graduate education from Columbia University and Stanford University in digital transformation and corporate innovation and a graduate of the Yale Global Executive Leadership program.
Russell comes from a large family with two sisters and four brothers. His father was a physician, and his mother was a nurse, airplane pilot and entrepreneur. He is excited by fitness, adventure and social engagement and is an active member of the California Air National Guard based out of Mountain View, California.
